Graduation from the University of St. Thomas

This May I finally finished my graduate degree at the University
of St. Thomas. I am formally a Master of Science in Software Engineering.
My friend Dan threw a party before hand. He and I started and finished the
program at the same time. It took us four years. Here is Stella getting ready
to go to the party.

My folks came up for the ceremony. It was a big deal to me. It was good to
have everybody there. We even got a baby sitter for the night. That is a big deal too.

Stella playing in the grass.

Dan had a swing and Stella loves swings. Swings and dogs. And singing.
And goldfish crackers. Those are real big now.

I love cake. Store bought frosting is the best. I eat 'til it hurts.

The family at Dan's.

The ceremony was held in St. Paul in the St. Thomas auditorium/gymnasium.
I'd never been in the building. The keynote was the CEO of Toro. I've forgotten most
of everything he said. I remember it being mildly funny and not too long. This is the
stage I walked across.

Here I am shuffling in during the procession. I didn't know the guys next to
me but one was from Thailand and the other India. My friend Chuck was one seat away.
The four of us had a good time.

Here is the quad afterwards. There was a brief string quartet and hor'dourves.
We stayed a few minutes and then went for Mexican.

Here is O'Shaugnessy-Frey Library. I have no idea who it is named after.
The Comp.Sci. department is across the street. I rarely crossed it.

Here is my Master's hood in full bloom. We decided not to pay the extra
$100 so that I could keep it. I was tempted, but what would I do with it?

Kristi and I with a fake diploma. The real thing is in the mail but I
haven't received it yet.

Here we are with a statue of Terrance Murphy. I'm not sure what he did either
but all the science buildings are named after him. Must have been quite a donation.

Proud family.

The next day things were back to normal. Kristi was solely responsible for
the baby and I read Us magazine on the couch. Perfect.
